The Lila Philosophy The Lila Institute was set up to offer a creative arts-based training in Play Therapy in the South West of England. The term Lila is the Sanskrit word for 'sacred play/play of the cosmos/play for healing' and this philosophy informs the whole approach to the training and practice of play therapists and child psychotherapists at the Lila Institute. We are currently running one and three day introductory courses in Person-Centred Play Therapy, and a one year Foundation in Play and the Creative Arts Therapies. We are working towards university validation for a Masters programme in Play Therapy and accreditation in Integrative Child Psychotherapy. In addition to these we offer tailor made continuing professional development training for social workers, teachers, therapists, counsellors and foster carers on the therapeutic value of play and the creative arts therapies.
