Info Bank : Personal therapy requirement
|
In order to accredit as a child psychotherapist you are required to be in weekly, individual psychotherapy with an accredited psychotherapist for the whole of the four year training, and until you successfully complete the required number of clinical hours (this is currently 500). Should you not wish to go on and accredit as a child psychotherapist, but require only to qualify as a play therapist, then you would need to meet the British Association of Play Therapists's personal therapy requirement. At present, the BAPT requirement is for two years personal therapy. This, however, is currently being reviewed... A list of appropriate psychotherapists and creative arts therapists can be obtained from the Lila office. Back to the Information Bank |
